Especially in northern regions, generator sets used in winter should be equipped with insulation sleeves and curtains to prevent cold.
2. Fuel selection: The low temperature in winter reduces the fluidity and viscosity of diesel, making it difficult to spray and resulting in poor atomization, leading to a decrease in the power and economic performance of the generator set. Therefore, light diesel with low pour point and good ignition performance should be selected in winter.
3. Antifreeze selection: When the generator set is used in a low-temperature environment, antifreeze must be added. Regularly check the concentration of antifreeze and prohibit the use of untreated water as engine coolant.
4. Start under low temperature conditions: When starting in winter, run at low speed for 3-5 minutes to increase the overall temperature, check the working condition of the lubricating oil, and only put it into normal operation after it is checked to be normal.
5. Filter replacement: Due to the poor working environment under low temperature conditions, it is necessary to replace the air filter and diesel filter frequently. Cold weather has particularly high requirements for air and diesel filters. Failure to replace them in a timely manner will increase engine wear and affect the lifespan of the diesel engine.
6. Oil selection: In winter, the temperature is low, and the oil used at room temperature will experience increased viscosity and friction in the cold winter, which not only affects the engine's rotation but also increases fuel consumption. Therefore, it is necessary to choose winter specific engine oil with a slightly thinner viscosity.
7. Battery maintenance: Before the cold season begins, be sure to check the electrolyte level, viscosity, and unit voltage. If the diesel engine is not used for a long time and is at a very low temperature, the battery should be removed and stored indoors in a warmer place.
8. Parking precautions: When parking in cold weather, the load should be unloaded first, and then idle for 1-2 minutes until the water and oil temperatures drop before parking. After parking, if antifreeze additives have not been added to the coolant, the drain valves or water plugs on the engine body, oil cooler cover, radiator, inlet pipe, etc. must be opened to drain the coolant completely to prevent the engine from freezing and cracking.
