1. Cooling system design:
Radiator position: When installing the Cummins generator set, the radiator should be as close to the exhaust port as possible to prevent the recirculation of hot air. When there is no duct, the distance between the radiator and the exhaust port should not exceed 150 mm; if the machine room is difficult to meet this requirement, it is recommended to install the corresponding duct.
Exhaust port area: The area of the exhaust port should be 1.5 times the exhaust area of the radiator. It is usually necessary to install the air duct and exhaust shutters in conjunction with the radiator. The bend of the air duct should be through an appropriate elbow. When the pipeline is too long, the size should be increased to reduce the exhaust back pressure.
Air inlet design: The total area of the air inlet should be at least twice the area of the unit radiator to ensure sufficient air flow. All air vents should be able to prevent the entry of rainwater.
2. Ventilation system design:
Damper or shutter: The damper or shutter should be able to adjust automatically according to the operating status of the unit to isolate the machine room from the surrounding environment. The damper in cold areas should allow airflow recirculation to improve the effectiveness of the unit.
Measures for high-cold areas: In cold climate areas, adjustable shutters can be installed on the inlet and outlet of standby and rarely operated generator sets, which can be closed when the unit is not running. For standby units that are automatically put into operation, it is usually necessary to install a thermostatically controlled immersion cooling water heater.
3. Noise control:
Ventilation noise reduction: Baffles should be appropriately added near the ventilation inlet and outlet to reduce fan noise and reduce the adverse effects of external wind.
High-cold climate conditions: In high-cold climate conditions, when the Cummins diesel generator set is out of use, the inlet and outlet should be automatically closed; the thermostatic regulating valve should be partially opened during operation to reduce the amount of cold air intake.
