Common faults of cooling system of WF series generator set include over-temperature of the engine, abnormal noise and water leakage. The specific manifestations and causes of these faults are as follows:
1. Over-temperature of the engine:
Phenomenon: The water temperature gauge indicates that the specified value is exceeded (the intuitive water temperature of the diesel engine is ≤90℃); the cooling water in the radiator is very hot or even boiling; the power of the diesel engine decreases; the diesel engine is not easy to shut down.
Cause: Water leakage or too little cooling water; the fan belt is too loose; the fan blade angle is not installed correctly or the fan blade is damaged; the water pump is worn, leaking or its pumping capacity is reduced; the diesel engine runs for a long time at low speed and overload; the injection time is too late; the thermostat fails; the water distribution pipe is blocked; too much scale is deposited in the water jacket, and the heat dissipation is poor.
Troubleshooting method: Check whether the diesel engine has water leaks and whether the water tank is short of water, check the tightness of the fan belt, check whether the fan blade angle is installed correctly, whether the fan blade is damaged, and the wear and pumping capacity of the water pump; check whether the diesel engine has been running for a long time under low speed and overload, and adjust the injection time; check whether the thermostat fails; remove the scale in the water jacket.
2. Abnormal sound:
Phenomenon: There are abnormal sounds in the water pump, fan, etc.
Cause: The fan blade hits the radiator; the fan fixing screws are loose; the fan belt pulley or impeller is loose with the water pump shaft; the water pump shaft and the water pump housing bearing seat are loose.
Troubleshooting method: Check whether the gap between the radiator fan window and the fan is consistent, and adjust the radiator fixing screws; if the sound occurs in the water pump, remove the water pump to find out the cause and repair it.
3. Water leakage:
Phenomenon: There is water dripping from the radiator or the lower part of the diesel engine; the fan throws water around when the machine is working; the water level in the radiator drops rapidly, and the engine temperature rises rapidly.
Cause: The seal ring of the radiator or water pump is aged or damaged; the water pipe joint is loose or damaged; the coolant pipe is broken.
Troubleshooting method: Check and replace the damaged seal ring or pipe; tighten the loose water pipe joint.
Fault diagnosis method
Check the amount and quality of the coolant: Make sure that the amount of coolant is sufficient and the quality meets the requirements, and avoid using hard water containing a large amount of ions.
Check the working status of the water pump: Hold the outlet pipe connected to the radiator with your hand, feel the flow change of the circulating water, and judge whether the water pump is working normally.
Check the thermostat: A damaged thermostat will cause the coolant to fail to circulate normally at the specified temperature. The damaged thermostat needs to be checked and replaced regularly.
Clean scale: Clean the scale in the radiator and water jacket regularly to prevent it from affecting the cooling effect.
Check the fan and belt: Make sure the fan belt is appropriately tight and the fan is working properly without any abnormal noise.
